In New York City on Wednesday, Katie carried not Marilyn Monroe or Jackie Kennedy, yet an icon of our times: Ariana Grande.
Before you ask, no, she didn’t wear her hair in a half-pony or add a set of rabbit ears– instead, Holmes took on a trend used by the Sweetener vocalist on a practically daily basis: Lampshading.
For those of you living in the past (or someplace around 2015), lampshading is the really advanced act of layering a big sweatshirt or tee shirt over a pair of thigh-high boots, like so:
And of course, retro-obsessed Katie actually did this. During a recent outing she paired an oatmeal-colored sweatshirt bearing an eye-grabbing red and mahogany design across the chest with a collection of slouchy black over-the-knee boots.
